I'm very curious to find a good Mingus DVD, mostly showcasing his music and live performances, a well-shot well-recorded concert being unrealistically ideal. I realize that many of the greats were not chronicled on film or video as often and as professionally as we all would hope, if at all, due to the era they lived in and the expenses of filming back then. One or two DVDs I've seen here in NYC were just a small amount of concert footage padded with a lot of documentary interviews and such. And usually very expensive, being an import or something.

Basically, there should be a really good reason for me to pay through the nose for a Mingus DVD when I could get a classic Mingus CD for a lot cheaper. And it ain't talking heads. Not that I have a bias against documentaries, but I've already seen and liked Beneath The Underdog. I just wanna hear sweet music and watch his band bring it to my ears.
